R.I.P. Bea Arthur

Bea Arthur has passed away at the age of 86. Sad! I loved Maude when I was kid. God'll get you for that Walter!

From the Monterey County Herald...

Arthur died peacefully at her Los Angeles home with her family at her side, family spokesman Dan Watt said. She had cancer, Watt said, declining to give further details.

You will be missed!

Bah ha ha!

They had armadillos in their trousers!

Went to see Unwigged and Unplugged last night! This is a performance by Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer, the guys who formed the band Spinal Tap. It was awesome!
Saw them at the Paramount, a good sized venue but you still get a good view of the stage. We had front row balconey seats so that was cool.

They played an all accoustic set of all their songs which included songs from Spinal Tap but also songs from the movie A Mighty Wind, a movie about the folk singing genre. They're fabulous! Their harmonies were outstanding and they're excellent musicians.

They played for about a full two hours and were able to take small breaks by occasionally playing videos. They played a clip from Spinal Tap's first ever video that appeared on a show called The Tv Show in 1977 and a funny psuedo-documentary about cheese which featured Ed Begley Jr and a wee Jake Gyllenhall.

There was even a little Stonehenge!

Which was trod upon by trolls.

They did one funny bit where they read comments by the network sensors about problem bits the movie Spinal Tap would have when played on network television. Apparently "We have armadillos in our trousers", a bit about a foil wrapped cucumber and the entire song Sex Farm were too much to show the audience at 11:30 at night.
The show was just a lot of fun. And you know they won me over when they thanked the audience for coming out on a Wednesday night and missing Lost to come see them. They suggested we just go to the Orchid and turn the frozen donkey wheel so we can still see the episode. Oh I love them so!

Good times at Church!

Went to Italian Family Dinner night as St. Phillip Neri last night. Love these dinners, ya just never leave hungry. Actually you normally leave feeling miserable because you ate too much and ya gotta love that.

There was the usual antipasto and salad and then we had ravioli in pesto and sliced pork loin with potatoes and veggies. They had ice cream sandwiches and Drumsticks for dessert and who doesn't love a Drumstick? We always get a chuckle out of having the children bring us more wine. Brings back memories of having to bring the adults more booze when I was a kid. (happy sigh)

Chuck and Debbie came with.

Me and mah Honey
(heh heh, it's always fun drinking at church)

We spotted this neat old-timey phone that's probably as old as most of the folks at the dinner. Jim said it worked but was very crackly, like most of the folks as the dinner. (I kid!)

Old school!

Made it bleed!

You could catch the Charlie and Humphrey PSAs in the afternoons during Dialing for Dollars. I'm pretty sure it was Dialing for Dollars. I was usually at Nonni's house, parked on the floor with my toys right in front of the tv and watching DFD while she cooked.
I'm completely giddy seeing these again, it's been 30+ years since the last time. (ouch, that smarts)
Anyway, I'm loving the Hostility theme. Humphrey is just adorable when he's angry. Next time it seems that everyone on the freeway is intent on killing me, this is where my mind is going.

Grandma Hambone calls hostility the work of the Devil!

Skins mah knee, Charlie, skins mah knee!
Tee hee hee

Happy Birthday Desmond!

Well, to Henry Ian Cusick who plays Desmond anyhow. Happy 42!

I hope Desmond's back soon!
The show just isn't as sexy without him.

I met Lost people!

So, I went to the Lost Weekend Fan Event at the beginning of the month and was pleasantly suprised to find out that some of the actors and creators were making appearances. Hee hee!

Sam Anderson who portrays Bernard. I feel a bit guilty, Sam came up and gave me a big hug thinking I was someone else. I apologized for not being who he thought I was but thanked him for the warm greeting. I must have really looked like this person because a couple of the creators said Hi and asked me how I was doing thinking I was this person as well. If I ever get to meet Desmond, I hope he knows this person and wants to her a big ol' hug. Oh please oh please!

Sterling Beaumon, he plays young Ben. This kid was too adorable! He was having a good time basking in all the attention. He really made the whole evening fun. He gets extra points for selecting my raffle tickets.

Andrea Gabriel who plays Nadia.
(The photo is cropped because next to this skinny, young thing I looked like a sausage in a cocktail dress. )

On the left, Adetokumboh McCormack who plays Yemi and on the right, Sterling. Happy fan in the center.

I won the autographed Hurley doll in the silent auction. I got Jack-jacked at the last second. Grrrr.

My major awards. I won the photo as a door prize and won the two tees signed by Matthew Fox and Jorge Garcia in the raffle.

I have to admit that my photography that weekend just stunk up the place. I really didn't capture anyone in a very flattering way. I'll have to do better next time. Anyway, it was a really fun weekend, I'm so going next year!

She can do no wrong!

Okay, I'm girl crushing so hard right now on Drew Barrymore. I just love her! The girl is on fire lately clothes-wise. I mean, just look at these outfits...

Wicked!

Hate the shoes but love that dress and look at her work it.

And from the Gray Gardens premiere...

Love it!

Okay, new Bucket List entry - Become best friends with Drew Barrymore and go shopping and have cocktails afterwards. Hey, it could happen!

Blame it on Facebook.

Hello? Anyone out there?
Yes, I've been ignoring my blog. My apologies. I went and joined Facebook and have been spending most of my spare time there instead.
Coming soon I'll post some pics from the Lost Weekend Fan Event. I will also start making more of an effort to keep this updated.

Gettin' tiki with it!

Sam made the drive down from Washington to visit folks in the Bay Area. Jeannette and I took her out last Saturday to get her tiki on!

First stop, Forbidden Island for a warm up cocktail.

And then on to Tiki Tom's for some more cocktails...

A little music...

And some grub.
We murdered the Pu Pu Platter!

As the sun began to set over the Park St. bridge, we bid adieu to the tropical atmosphere and our cocktails (by finishing them) and headed over to Jeannette's to watch old vids and reminisce. A good time was had by all!
